Gathered together the far corners of the globe, the members of Team 8 unite to make their legacy in the 2012 6.270 competition.
Ryan Fish
Hometown : Defunct lighthouse in Maine
Designation : Chief Programmer
Syrup of Choice : Maple
Ryan Fish has never been afraid to swim against the current. The most persistent and hardworking member of the team, Ryan calls to mind images of an Atlantic salmon travelling thousands of miles to spawn in its native freshwater stream. With an intellect as sharp as that pointy nose thing on a swordfish and a heart as big as the ocean is deep, Ryan keeps working to make a robot that will drown the competition.
Jacob Haip
Hometown : Fredericktown, Ohio
Designation : High-Level Strategy
Favorite Word : Châteauneuf-du-Pape (pronounced "Cheux de neuffy doof ne poopy")
Jacob Haip brings to the team a deep understanding of programming and a large wardrobe of plaid button-up shirts. (Barely) the tallest member of Team 8, Jacob's height has been described as "freakish" and "unsettling", which is odd because he only has a half inch or so on teammate Steve Sullivan. Jacob is a known womanizer and can often be found lounging in his favorite gray cotton shorts, which he refers to as his "happy pants".
Steve Sullivan
Hometown : Nanzdietschweiler, Germany
Designation : Structural Elements and Design
Steve Sullivan gives the team a great air of internationalism. His unmistakable Irish heritage blends seamlessly with his German upbringing. Often said to have been the inspiration for the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, Steve makes the brusque and heartless strategies that the other team members cannot for their lack of cold-hearted monstrosity. Also the original Cherry Tree cutter, a story stolen and made famous by George Washington, Steve enjoys cutting down trees in his free time.
